In Memory of our Life President

In December 2025 we were heartbroken to announce the death of our wonderful Life President, Barbara Hughes. Barbara has been at the scheme since 2001, taking on the roles of Director, Vice Chairman and Chairman.

As the longest serving director on our Board, Barbara provided stability, sound advice and guidance to her fellow directors over more than two decades of change at the scheme.

To our staff team, she provided support, mentoring and an enormous amount of care to ensure we were always supported to be able to do our jobs to the best of our ability.

With the unfailing support of her wonderful husband Tim, Barbara has been the heart of Home-Start Wyre Forest for so long and we are all devastated to be saying goodbye.

As all who knew Barbara will agree, she was one of the most inspirational, kind, compassionate and tolerant souls to have lived, who led by example and became a role model to us all as to how to live our lives.

It has been a privilege to have known Barbara and to have had her gentle, kind presence at the heart of Home-Start Wyre Forest for so long.
