Volunteers Together
We have secured an Awards For All grant of £9924 from Big Lottery to recruit volunteers from the rural areas of the Wyre Forest over the coming year. The Volunteers Together is a project working in Bewdley, Cookley, Wolverley, Rock and Chaddesley Corbett to enable us to tell residents about volunteering opportunities and provide bespoke, accessible courses to enable community members to join the team.
We want new volunteers to join our amazing team of 95 volunteers, supported by 4 staff. Volunteers who provide home visiting and group support to an average of 400 children in 200 families each year.
Project Lead and Home-Start Wyre Forest Co-ordinator Joanne Shinton said,
“ This project is a great way to engage more people across our district and find out what some of the obstacles to volunteering for those in the more rural areas locally may be. We can then plan how people want the course to be delivered and where- we are open to ideas, whether that be a local school, community centre or meeting room in their village, whatever people tell us is easier for them. We can also be flexible about days and times- we want those interested in volunteering with us to guide us! We know sometimes transport issues, working arrangements and childcare can be barriers to attending our Courses, but we want to know what we can do to help with this.”
